Yeezy? More Like Yike-sy!

Despite much…are you ready for it…controversy over Kanye West’s decision to show during New York Fashion Week, the rapper unveiled his second installment of Yeezy on Wednesday and boy, if there was ever a word to describe a collection, this is it!  Pronounced Yike-sy and best worn if you’re into the haute homeless look if you ask me.

Kanye West Yeeks Collection

Much like Yeezy I, which was made in collaboration with Adidas (Yeezy II, is not and I’m sure that the Adidas marketing team is fist-pumping somewhere right about now) clothes included nude body suits and layers upon layers of utility separates (parka jackets, long coats, oversize knits, hoodies, and tailored canvas pants) in colors ranging from blush, to army green, brown and then black.  Hint Hint Kim, layers are GOOD when you’re THIS pregnant…

And while the show attracted one of NYFW’s most star-studded front rows thus far including Anna Wintour, Drake, and Lorde, as well as Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian and his sisters-in-law Khloe and Kourtney, and Kendall Jenner, despite its last-minute scheduling, it seems that fashionistas further afield were not overly fond of the rapper-turned-designer’s latest Yeezy offering. Even Kanye looked dissatisfied with his own creative direction.

Twitter was all abuzz with @WhoIsMike tweeting: ‘Kanye West out here dressing models like they’re from district 12 in the Hunger Games.’

Another wrote: ‘Kanye West proves that it takes a lot of money to look incredibly poor,’ and a third person noted: ‘Kanye’s clothing line is LITERALLY how I used to dress when I was a homeless teenager.’

But it wouldn’t be Kanye if he didn’t piss off everyone in his path to fashion hell.  Today, rumors emerged that he also angered the models who walked for him by asking them to sign NDAs.  That explains why they all looked so miserable!

“Kanye’s hacked off some really high-profile models by asking them to sign the agreement, particularly because it stated that he could sue them for up to $10million if they spoke out about him,” a source told The Mirror of the NDAs, which allegedly prohibit the signees from talking about the collection, Kim Kardashian West and her family, and the designer himself. “He’s not considered a great talent – everyone knows his show is just a media frenzy, so some girls would rather not be associated with him,” continued the source. “The document is ridiculous and totally over the top – but that’s just Kanye.”

Not done yet!  The two designers left in the runway dust when Kanye announced just 5 days to the date that he will show Yeeks II were Anne Bowen and Naeem Khan, who were scheduled to show at the same time.  They were outspoken in their criticism calling the singer-cum-fashion-designer Goliath, in reference to the biblical story in which a weaker opponent faces a much stronger adversary.  “Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this,” she said. “It’s like we are David and he is Goliath. We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this.”

I guess they are the modern day fashion roadkill…poor girls!

Talk to me, I would love to hear from you!
