Rap at Steve & Cookies?
After a day of water parking with the kiddies, the moms took a much needed night out to enjoy dinner and cocktails.
Best part?
THAT dinner and THOSE cocktails were graciously subsidized by our new friend Wes.
As we were wrapping up our dinner at
Steve & Cookies, the only other table remaining besides ours appeared to be just getting started.
The bar lights were off, the waitstaff was counting their nightly pay and the regular musac was suddenly replaced by rap.
Rap at Steve & Cookies? Bet you don’t hear that EVER…
To our surprise, our dining neighbor was William Sydney “Wes” Wesley also known as “World Wide Wes” or simply “Wes.”
We had no idea who he was but after offering to buy us a round of drinks only to then pay for our entire dinner, we quickly Googled and learned this.
Noted for his relationships with numerous high-profile NBA players and team owners, college basketball head coaches and their agents, Wes is considered by many within the industry as a power broker and one of the most influential men in the business side of basketball.
He is associated with many of the league’s most prominent players, including Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Richard Hamilton and Allen Iverson. Wesley is a longtime client of Iverson and James’s agent, the Philadelphia attorney Leon Ros.
Drake gives Wesley a shout out on his popular diss track “Back to Back,” stating “I learned the game from William Wesley you could never check me,” (the first verse in the song) and Jay-Z references him in the song Pound Cake / Paris Morton Music 2 THE song pumping over the sound system as we made our way out of the restaurant.
Escorted by Wes himself.
He was asking for hot spot recommendations so naturally, we told him about tonight’s White Party at Catch.
Forget the NBA, kiss music’s royalty in the butt, the question is can Wes handle the Russian invasion going down tonight?
We shall see!
