Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced to an audience of more than 7,500 fans at the D23 EXPO 2015, that Star Wars-themed lands will be coming to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL, allowing Star Wars fans to step into the stories from a galaxy far, far away.
The authentic lands will have two signature attractions, including the ability to take controls of one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
And while the kiddies are getting their geek on, mommies and daddies can smile, wave and indulge in a drink at a Mos Eisley-style cantina!
Iger added that both of the 14-acre lands will be populated by droids, “fantastic roaming beasts” and other local inhabitants of the Star Wars worlds.
So, the galaxy far, far away may be closer than you’d think but with no set opening date, you have plenty of time to charge up your lighsabers and start saving.
