Happy Old New Year!
Celebrating The Old New Year (Старый Новый год) the only way any decent Russian would, surrounded by total decadence…
From bowls of caviar and bottles of tequila because vodka is so 2016.
To great friends and my handsome husband…
We had a blast dancing waaay into the morning.
The boys and girls came out looking ochen kracuvo and ready to play!
But more than anything was the fashion. No one can dispute that Russians know how to do it up. Up and over the top was definitely the theme last night…sadly I was too busy having fun to take more pics but in case you were wondering, here’s what I wore.
Black and red beaded Parker dress, perfect combination of furry AND sparkly and just what the occasion called for.
Kurt Geiger open toe crystal booties, hindsight not the best choice for a night of dancing…ouch ?
All in all an ochen, ochen fun night!
Never hear of Old New Year? Think it’s some made up excuse to party or an oxymoron all together? Allow me to take you down history lane. The Old New Year or the Orthodox New Year is an informal traditional holiday, celebrated as the start of the New Year by the Julian calendar. In the 20th and 21st centuries, the Old New Year falls on January 14 in the Gregorian calendar. The same day is celebrated in India as the sun ends its southward journey and starts moving northward.
