Gap Has Me All Fired Up

Rarely do I go there but this has me really fired up!
I’m talking about the ‘contravertial’ GapKids ad that ignited ignorari across  Twitter so much so that the company curled their tail between their legs, apologized and pulled the ad!
I was following some of the BS on social media last week but tonight, while going through old magazines, spotted this ad from September and whoa!  WTF?
How is this 2015 ad from the same campaign of a black girl resting her arm on the head of a white girl ok but…

This ‘racially insensitive’ ad from this year not?

How did we become a society where something that’s meant to be positive and pure like this GapKids campaign to promote the empowerment of girls is met with such hate and racial divide?
The campaign, which first launched last year for the company’s fall collection, features girls that are drummers, skateboarders, entrepreneurs and inventors…cool!
This particular one is of young girls that are part of Le Petit Cirque, a traveling circus company that features boys and girls between the ages of 5-14…super cool!
Despite all this, Gap was quick to respond.
“As a brand with a proud 46 year history of championing diversity and inclusivity, we appreciate the conversation that has taken place and are sorry to anyone we’ve offended,” said Gap spokeswoman Debbie Felix in a statement to Fortune. Gap said that it intends to remove the one image that consumers found offensive but it isn’t planning to back away from the broader themes of the campaign.
Good but instead of removing the image, Gap should’ve stood firm and created a custom birdie emoji with which to respond to all of the haters.
As for me, I don’t care if you agree or disagree with me.  That’s the beauty of living in this country; I can have an opinion and say what I want but what I want most now is to slap someone.
If you see a difference between these 2 ads than I want to slap YOU!

Talk to me, I would love to hear from you!
