Beauty Meets Fashion
with the release of Christian Louboutin’s Nail Colour Collection and I’m just dying to get my unpolished little fingers on it!
Well, my nails are rarely unpolished but I’m still dying…
“The red sole was born from red nail polish. I am giving back to the nails what the shoe took from the nails many years ago,” says Chrisitian Louboutin. He designed his first Pensee shoe in 1992, and although he had drawn the shoe perfectly to his satisfaction he was disappointed when he actually saw the prototype. It was missing something.
While staring at it, he noticed that his assistant was painting her nails at the desk next to him. He grabbed the polish from her and began painting the sole of the shoe. And there, in Paris, the signature red sole was born.
To Louboutin, beauty is never far from fashion. The two are mutually inspirational, melding form and function, color and style. Just as wearing a pair of heels encourages a woman to walk slower and taller, nail lacquer begs the wearer to enjoy the pleasure of painting her nails and savoring the vibrancy of the color she’s wearing.
Following the launch of his original Rogue Louboutin comes 30 additional colors, each inspired by the iconic Louboutin shoes. Grouped into three families of 10: the Pops (bright colors), the Noirs (intense blues, dark browns, deep greens, and, of course, black), and the Nudes (rose-gold and varying blush tones, from vanilla to khaki), each adds to the complete collection of Louboutin enamel.
When oh when you’re asking can I get these ‘objets d’art’? In the Month of Alya but of course! The 30 additional shades will be launched on August 31st and the palette is divided in three different groups with specific cap colors: THE POPS– silver cap, THE NOIRS – gunmetal cap and THE NUDES – rose gold cap. At $50 a bottle, they are a fraction of what you would pay for these…
but just as fabulous!
