Chef’s Choice

Who knew that there was such great Korean fare outside of the city, a chef that’s who!
Saturday, we did what we don’t usually do when we have a babysitter and a precious few hours of adult time.  We ventured out of center city Philadelphia for what promised to be the best authentic Korean BBQ in all of Philadelphia.  These are the perks of having friends in the food biz and know their stuff!
All I really cared about was that there would be alcohol and since there was, off we went to Kim’s Restaurant in Olney.

Let me just say that there is a reason why you’re seeing this 3 days later.  No, not because of a hangover but I am just now coming out of a Korean BBQ induced coma!
The casual Korean barbecue spot has a food truck feel and is made up of tables where patrons can self-grill their own meat…

We ordered the beef and chicken that came with plates of various side dishes from marinated eggplant and jalapeño peppers to seaweed salad…

Along with a few bottles of Soju, a distilled beverage containing ethanol and water and considered to be “Korea’s most popular alcoholic beverage” in 2010 we had one awesome meal…no, not meal…experience!

Did I mention the free ice cream?  Yup, grab a scoop and help yourself to the sweet goodness!

Before I sign off a word of warning, leave your jacket in the car or you WILL smell like smoke. They have a small parking lot that I hear is usually full, it wasn’t on Saturday but if it is when you arrive, there is plenty of nearby street parking.
