Tweed Riders
Never knew there was such a thing but apparently, Tweed Riding is and has been for a while.
By the looks of these dapper ladies and gents pedaling through the streets of Philadelphia this afternoon, this is right up my speed. It certainly has all of the key AlyaBuzz elements.
What the heck is a tweed ride you ask?
Now, is that any way for a lady to speak?
A tweed ride is a return to a bygone era in England when families (family) would dress in their best clothing (fashion), assemble a picnic lunch (food), get on the train (travel) with their bicycles and go out to the countryside (fun). Riding their bicycles home.
Let’s review…

And naturally, Libations!
What would be better than a group ride among fields of daffodils in which the cyclists dress in classic tweed or any smart looking outfit?
Yep, that was then…
And this is now…
Any and all bicycles are acceptable but classic vintage bicycles are encouraged. Wonder if my 7yr. old beach cruiser counts as vintage?
The modern rides are “A Metropolitan Cycle Ride With a Bit of Style” and while you’re not likely to see too many daffodils along the way, the Philadelphia Tweed Ride returned today for a fancy-fied bike ride through the city. Tweed-clad cyclists gathered at 11 a.m. at the Philadelphia Water Works behind the Art Museum where they began their ride at noon. The first stop was Rittenhouse Square, where they danced with the Lindy Hoppers. Then, onward to Washington Square for a BYO picnic before tooling through Old City. They then headed back to Rembrandt’s in Fairmount for an after party.
Not a tweed piece of clothing in my closet but rest assured that there will be as I prepare for next year’s Tweed Ride.
I’ve finally found a tri fit for me!!! ?
