For the many wonderful Birthday Wishes & the Love from Family and Friends on my Birthday.
Had a great day celebrating with my boys and it’s just the start of the weekend!

I’m not sure when it all started but my birthday has been a BIG DEAL for as long as I can remember. I’m going to guess it had something to do with these guys, my parents.

Growing up in Russia, there weren’t that many things to celebrate so, Birthdays and New Years were pretty much the main events. My parents took both to the next level and made each the highlight of my and my brothers year. Yes, shocking, I’m NOT an only child! I did learn to share and play nice with another until I no longer had to 😉
My father always presented me AND my mom flowers. It’s Russian custom that you congratulate the mother of the child as well as celebrate the child. Oops, gotta remind Phil to call my mom…
There were always presents, parties, and when I got older, surprises like tickets to plays, dinners out and such. So as you can see, it wasn’t me, I ~~blame~~ thank my parents for the Birthday monster that they’ve created!

Thanks mama and papa for brining me into the world, for loving me as much as you do and for setting the standard for how each birthday should be celebrated forever. I’m guessing Phil is not as appreciative as he’s now left to carry the birthday torch which btw he’s doing fabulously.

I couldn’t have asked for a better day that concluded with a fantastic dinner at one of my favorites, Izakaya. Still recovering from the culinary perfection but when you have friend and chef Michael Schulson attending to every detail, what can you expect?

Pretty sure we sampled everything from the new menu and, had I not been so busy stuffing my face, would have more pics to share but this is as good as it’s gonna be…sorry!
