Thank You Hugh Jackman!

On Saturday, mama & I met in NYC to see the one & only Hugh Jackman in his one man show #TheManTheMusicTheShow

Well let me tell you that he was all that I had expected & more!

From tough as nails Wolverine in the X-Men series to flamboyant singer & songwriter Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz & every other character in between, there’s truly nothing that he can’t do. He sings! He dances! He’s funny! He’s self deprecating!

He’s Humble & He’s Inspiring! Jackman kicked off the 1pm show by thanking & dedicating it to his wife & children. Throughout the 3hrs (& a 15min intermission), he sang, he danced, he interacted with the audience, told stories of his failures & successes, & while I’m sure that it was all scripted & rehearsed for months, perhaps even years, he made it all so authentic.

Only sorry that we missed the evening show when this went down!

My favorite part however, was that it was a show for everyone! The kids in the audience were just as delighted as the adults. The man (ok there was more than one but they were definitely in the minority) got their Wolverine fix when he made a joke that THIS is how gets out of the tub every morning.

Drama geeks drooled over his portrayal of Jean Valjean from Les Misérables. Musical enthusiasts couldn’t get enough of his portrayal of P.T. Barnum from The Greatest Showman. And there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience when he surprised everyone with “This Is Me” with none other than Keala Settle.

My mom & I didn’t end the day in a heated political or pop cultural debate & everyone left just a bit more joyful after having watched him.

We ended the day with a visit to the new Hudson Yards, New York’s newest neighborhood (opened in March 2019) & home to more than 100 shops & culinary experiences, offices, public art & dynamic cultural institutions including The Shed, modern residences, 14 acres of public plazas, gardens & groves & the world’s first Equinox Hotel®.
