Sushi, Sake and Soul

New York, the city that never sleeps, has something for everyone and just because its Spring Break, doesn’t mean that kids should have all the fun.
So…get a sitter, gather your funnest friends, book a reservation at a hip, new spot and go…
We decided to start the night at the fairly new to the NY dining scene, Zuma.  The brainchild of award winning co-founder and creator, Rainer Becker, the modern japanese spot opened in midtown Manhattan in January and has been a hot ticket since.  Inspired by the informal dining style of izakaya, Zuma has 9 other locations including London, Miami, Dubai and Bangkok. Reservations are tough to come by but I was able to score 10pm and then 9pm just by picking up the phone.  Remember those days?
We sat in the lounge and dined on sushi and sake…

The sushi was good and went before I had a chance to snap pics and the sake bomb shots have been confiscated by my social media filter and editor…This guy!

The place was beautiful and packed but not so much so that it warranted 10pm reservations.  Just saying.

A little sushi, a lot of sake and we were ready for some soul so we headed to our next and final destination, Toshi’s Living room and Penthouse.

Located in the Flatiron hotel, this place has it all!
Great cocktails = check
Fun atmosphere = check
Live music = double check and for someone who is used to Russian Restaurant “live music” it was a real treat to actually hear real awesome live music.

Robert “Toshi” Chan is a real estate mogul, party promoter, actor and majority owner of the Flatiron Hotel, home of Toshi’s Living room & Penthouse.  Robert started bartending, throwing epic parties and eventually rebranded himself as Toshi, a nickname/alter ego he gave himself.  The guy behind the famous “Toshi Parties” dabbled in professional acting and is best known for his role as a triad boss opposite Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2006 Academy Award-winning movie, The Departed.

Toshi expanded into hospitality, opening the Flatiron Hotel in 2011 eventually adding “Toshi’s Living Room & Penthouse,” a live music venue bar and restaurant.
“Toshi Parties” became iconic to NYC and now, you can experience them for yourself by visiting Toshi’s Living Room & Penthouse where Toshi is a regular fixture.

Awesome fun and incredible music made that much better with VIP service courtesy of Toshi himself!
