Santa Barbara vs. South Philly
When I was writing this last night, we were still celebrating our Mexican food find…amazing what a difference 12hrs can make.
A few hours after our great Los Gallos experience and this photo…things went sour.
At first, I was sad to learn that this was a BYOB…had my heart set on yummy margaritas but, they redeemed themselves with these gigantic homemade hibiscus Jamaica and sweet Horchata drinks…
Everything on the menu and coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great so, we started with guacamole and steak & cheese nachos both, delicious and probably enough food for the 3 of us to be done for the night but…
We didn’t stop there of course and also ordered Pollo Asado (grilled chicken) and Al Pastor (spicy marinayed pork with pineapple) tacos…
Both delicious but if I had to chose, I would go with the pork.
It was a bit out of the way but, if you ask me, definite worth the schlep to the 10th and Wolf family-owned restaurant. Given the choice of flying to Santa Barbara for a little La Super-Rica Taqueria…
or driving a few blocks to South Philly for this…
I’ll take the first especially, after the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Night that followed.
On that story later.
