On the Corner of France and Cambodia
Sixteen years ago, when I moved to Philadelphia and before South Philadelphia was the vibrant foodie up-and-comer it is today, Cambodian immigrants André Chin and Amanda Eap opened their bakery, Artisan Boulanger Patissier, at Twelfth and Morris.
Now at 12th and Mifflin, it’s no longer a neighborhood secret but a multi award winning bakery that serves up fresh baguettes, pillowy croissants of every flavor, tarts, bánh mì, paninis, and sushi.
The bakery has been featured in the media countless times, and in 2013 Chin was nominated for a James Beard Award in the category of “Outstanding Pastry Chef.”
The question remains, how did it take me 16 years to try this mouthwatering pistachio croissant?
The space is bright but, in my opinion, lacks atmosphere…nothing that a little sexy music and clever merchandising can’t fix.
That said, I’ll be back tout de suite!
