My Exclusive Double Knot Walkthrough
My job has its perks like scoping out the next hot party venue. This time around, I knew immediately who to turn to, friend and restaurateur Michael Schulson who is set to open Philadelphia’s most anticipated new restaurant, Double Knot.
Michael took time out of his hectic day to give us an exclusive tour of his latest project, a multilevel Japanese speakeasy conveniently located right next to one of my faves, Sampan.
Walk with me…
Enter the space through a single unassuming wooden door and you’re suddenly transported into another era. A time when you could hide away and drink away the day while enjoying a fine book or a great conversation.
Even in its current state of completion, the venue is stylish, sophisticated and sexy with a coffee shop, bar and curio on the main level and a somewhat hidden Japanese speakeasy down below.
The main upstairs bar will serve Elixir coffee and pastries by day and creative cocktails by night. According to Michael, soon to be added to the experience is a line of locally crafted jewelry for sale…what!?
Down we go to what will act as a restaurant and lounge serving sushi and robatayaki.
The main dining bar sits at the entrance to the lower level and overlooks the bar, dining areas and lounges throughout.
I especially love this intimate boudoir inspired nook tucked away and surrounded by wax dripped candles and custom wall ink and plan to spend many a nights here…hint! hint!
In addition to the custom tattooed wall art…
you will find carefully curated vintage pieces throughout like these reclaimed 1920s ship mirrors and, if you ask me, the artifacts alone are worth a visit!
Enough to whet your appetite?
Trust that these pics don’t do the place justice and hope to find you at Double Knot when it opens its door in early February!
