It’s Like Buttah
Channel Mike Myers on SNL’s scetch, “Coffee Talk with Linda Richman” and you’ve got the taste of my latest snack attack, Granny Smith Apples dipped in Sunflower Seed Butter.
Jacob’s camp, like probably most camps these days, is gluten-free, peanut-free and taste-free…sorry, I find all this ridiculous but I digress.
While visiting him at camp yesterday and checking out the lunch options, I noticed these little plastic cups labeled ‘Sunflower seed butter’ stacked up against the salad bar. Jacob, knowing my love for sunflower seeds (come on, I’m Russian!) quickly grabbed a few and insisted that I try one.
By their proximity to the salad dressing, I assumed that that’s what they were but quickly learned better.
It was butter and it was delicious!
It has the same consistency as smooth peanut butter with an almost roasted sunflower taste and aroma.
Naturally I had to get my hands on a jar and guess who had it? Trader Joe’s of course!
I don’t necessarily love their brand of Peanut Butter (for me there’s only one and it’s chunky Skippy) but their Sunflower seed butter is phenomenal and comparing the 2, almost equal in nutrional benefits with the sunflower butter having slightly more sugar.
How did I not know about this before?
How did it take a visit to summer camp to discover this deliciousness?
For the record, this is what I had for lunch…don’t judge me!
