Claim Your Independence

After many cold and blustery winter months, the Independence Beer Garden has finally opened.
Sadly, on a cold and blustery Spring day but no matter, we were there and it was Awesome!

Of course it helps when the chef and proprietor, Michael Schulson is alongside guiding you through the new and, I must say, improved menu.
We started with the Cheese Curds and 2 beers, it is afterall a “beer garden.”
I went with the cider the name of which escapes me primary, because it was so good that I had two.  If I had to guess, it was the “IBG Cider”…

If you remember last year’s cheese curds than you’re living in the 2014’s baby.  The new and improved curds are the bomb and served with a side of ranch dressing, even feel like a gooey, cheesy explosion in your mouth!  They were the perfect blend of crunch, cheese and warmth as we froze our asses sitting outside.

We were then advised to ordered the bucket of Lancaster Whole Fried Chicken and I NEVER order chicken when dining out.
Let’s just get it out right here, right now.  If I wasn’t sitting with friends in plain sight on Independence Mall, I would have polished off that bucket of chicken like it was my last meal on earth.  But I didn’t, I am…afterall…a lady!

Dare I say it was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had and I know my food.
The bucket comes with biscuits that were equally as delicious and 2 sides; baked beans and mac & cheese…

As if that wasn’t enough, we ordered the ricotta beignets that, when arrived, were warm and delicious especially, when dipped into the accompanying caramel sauce.
This was supposed to have been a let’s-stop-by-and-have-a-beer and turned into
let’s-eat-and-drink-until-we-can’t-breathe but, we’re good friends and THAT is what good friends do!
Needless to say I couldn’t wait to get home and dive into the rest of that bucket of chicken!
Oh wait, I have a 10yr old son…never mind.
