Cali #foodporn

Attending conferences is sometimes fun, often educational and always exhausting.  So many new people to meet, names to remember and conversations (some good some mind numbing) to have. Even if they’re held at nice resorts and in beautiful locations, seldom is there enough time to explore and enjoy the surrounding area. Health 2.0 where I’m returning from as I write this is case in point. It was in Silicone Valley which I’ve been dying to check out but spent most of the three days in the hotel/conference center…most ? You know I can’t pass up a culinary opportunity! So, I ventured out with a cool coworker for a delish dinner at Black Sheep Brasserie.  Eater listed it as one of the hottest new restaurants in the Valley and that was good enough to get us out of the dreary Hyatt.  The bistro from Stephen Shelton and Jimmy Marino features new American twists on classic French dishes and  everything that we ordered was #foodporn material.

We started with HOUSE MARINATED OLIVES and BURRATA served with SMOKED FIG JAM, ARUGULA & perfectly GRILLED BREAD.  I had to have the DIJON CRUSTED RACK OF AUSTRALIAN LAMB with FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS & SWEET AND SOUR SHALLOTS and my vegetarian companion had the PAN SEARED GNOCCHI with SWEET CORN, CIPOLLINI ONIONS, SOUBISE MOUSSE @ CHARRED ONION OIL.

A crisp California Rosé completed the experience and made hours of conferencing melt away.If you happen to be in the Santa Clara/San Jose area, you must give this California #foodporn spot a try.

Talk to me, I would love to hear from you!
