A Tradition I’ll Cherish Forever
Do you have a family tradition? Is it one you inherited from your parents or maybe, a new one you stared just a few years ago? No matter the when and how, what’s important is that you have one so congrats!
A few years ago Jacob and I started going to the Nutcracker at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Mostly, because I love the ballet and he loves seeing me so excited about something I’m passionate about. We haven’t missed a year and while I think that he’s totally over seeing the same performance year after year, he goes all in!
The morning of, he tells me how excited he is about our date, takes a shower…unprompted, dresses up, holds the door for me throughout the evening and holds my hand during the performance. That last act alone is why I will never let us miss our #mamason tradition. Even if one day he has to wheel me into that theater, we’re still going and we’re still holding hands.
Plus, I always let him choose where we’ll eat afterwards and you know this kid and his fine taste in food so there’s always a yummy meal for him to look forward to. This year, we went to Max Brenner’s, sat at the bar, and ordered dessert for dinner. He told me I was behaving like a 16 yr old insisted I stop taking selfies, Instagramming our food and boomeranging my Martini but I still managed to get a few in. He’s not the boss of me right!?
