A Bracelet Wonder Woman Would Envy
One of the few purchases that I made in Costa Rica was this Mishky bracelet. I didn’t know anything about the company except that all of their products were handcrafted in Colombia.
I fell in love with the intricate beaded work and unique design. Little did I know that Mishky has a pretty powerful mission.
Mishky designs come from the creative minds of Tita Navia and Martha Duran and, as per their website, the duo designs creations with a soul inspired by today’s world and the challenges that our planet faces.
Each bracelet bought and worn shares a small portion of what Tita and Martha ended up defining “Mishky Love”.
It is a vision of an exponentially infinite chain of crossed hands wearing bracelets representing good actions, passion, ethics, principles and love towards women, kids and planet Earth.
The core product is an articulated collection of bracelets produced in different widths, easily adjustable to any desired length by a distinctive knotting system. The bracelets are beaded with class A quality glass beads or woven on ancient looms (Egyptian looms) with a variety of vibrant colors and materials, such as silver, brass or recycled rubber and tin. The center silver symbol, such as peace, friendship, love, circle of energy, is either hand hammered and crafted or individually created with a technique called filigree.
Turns out that mine is the circle of energy which could explain why I feel like Wonder Woman whenever I wear it!
Mishky supports women & children by accessing families in need through numerous Foundations.
With “Mi mamá para mi” (“My mom for me”), Mishky trains women of low income areas to become expert artisans.
Teaching techniques and improving skills, allows them to work from home, generate revenue, and provide their children with attention, support, and parent guidance that they so much need. Mishky’s mothers working for “Mi mamá para mi”
provide an honorable living for their families, instilling in their children the concept of working with dignity and ethics.
With every hour of work from home, one Mishky bracelet is produced and one or more kids enjoy more time with their own mother, learning, studying, and sharing love.
I love it now more than ever!
