What Do You Covet?

We all covet right? No matter how much we have and how fortunate we feel, there’s always something that someone else has that we want. For most, it’s money. More of it so they can buy more stuff like cars, jewelry, homes, and shoes. For others, it can be the things we all take for granted like life, love, and freedom.

I just learned that June is scoliosis awareness month which got me thinking about this and what I covet most. While I would die for every piece of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry…

and every pair of Christian Louboutin stiletto…

what I want most is a straight spine!

I’m just jelly over girls with beautiful straight backs and the backless dresses they can wear without feeling self-conscious.

If you’re a parent and reading this please do your kids a favor and get them screened for scoliosis. It’s commonly detected around age 10-12 and the earlier it’s detected, the greater the chance of it being corrected.

Mine was detected during a pre-camp doctors visit at the age of 11…that didn’t suck at all ?

I then spent years in a brace that I was instructed to wear 23hrs /day taking a 1hr break during gym class! It was embarrassing. It was torturous. It was painful and it was a total waste of time and effort. I survived with my self esteem in tact so no psychological therapy was needed but Chiropractic therapy would have been nice.

Educate yourselves about scoliosis as people of all ages can have it but, the most common type is idiopathic scoliosis in children age 10 to 12 (early teens). Primary, because this is the time when children are growing fast. Additionally, girls are more likely than boys to have this type of scoliosis.

Scoliosis shmoliosis, I still rock backless because I’m bent but not broken.

In my favorite designer Jean Paul Gautier whom I ALMOST met…

Hope my story helps some of you help your kiddos! Now please, share yours.
